YOU’RE INVITED TO WEAR AN ORANGE SHIRT

“When you wear an orange shirt it’s like a little bit of justice for us Survivors in our lifetime, and recognition of a system we can never allow again.” Phyllis Webstand.

September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. The purpose of Orange Shirt Day is to recognize and raise awareness about the history and legacies of the residential school system in Canada.

In September 25th service we will take some time to observe both Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We are observing these days in a church service in order to not only reflect on what happened and continues to happen to Indigenous People’s but also to reflect on what our role in reconciliation should be. It is our desire that we as a church move beyond reflection and into action.
