The Christmas season is portrayed in many different ways as a time of joyful celebration filled with family gatherings. The reality for many is quite different. For some, Christmas is a time of deep sadness, pain and anxiety. It is a time of grieving many kinds of losses; of loved ones, independence, employment, health and relationships. It is also a time when the pain of the past becomes more difficult. It is helpful and good to name these realities in our lives and bring them to Jesus, Immanuel, God With Us.
