WHO WE ARE

Regeneration (Grades 9-12)

A senior youth group to give high school students the safe space, discipleship, and community in which to begin owning what they believe, even as they begin differentiating from their parents. They will have the opportunity to learn, question, and test what they've been taught.

The Regeneration group is encouraged, with the guidance of mentors, to both participate and serve in the activities of the Sunday service. They are welcomed to practice responsibility, with support, in the life of the congregation.

The specific aim of this group is to explore, dig deeper, and begin to compare and contrast what they've been taught in church with what else the world has to offer, while receiving the support they need to equip them to engage the wider culture from a Christian, Biblical worldview.

What we're learning this year

Most Friday evenings (and the occasional Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon), Regeneration will meet for various events. For the 2022-23 school year, Regeneration is continuing its series Comparing World Religions, accompanied by food samples from the countries with high populations of each religion's believers.

*We are approaching this study with respect and curiosity, rather than from a desire to build "straw men." This is in-line with NACC's vision because we love others by truly listening and seeking understanding, and we do justice by treating others and their beliefs fairly. When we appreciate our neighbours in their differences, it enables us to be better neighbours to them. We can clarify our understanding of the Christian God by learning about other "gods."

We are also starting to work through a study Living Your Faith in a Messed Up World, which will prompt youth to engage the faith they've been taught with discussions about relevant issues like suicide, hook-up culture, social injustices, and personal identity.
